The Framework is the result of extensive research and practical experience in education and safeguarding leadership. This collaborative development ensures the Quality Mark reflects both strategic rigour and real-world relevance, supporting schools to lead safeguarding with confidence, clarity, and impact.

The Quality Mark provides a rigorous external validation of your setting’s excellence across three achievement levels: Foundational (Bronze), Enhanced (Silver), and Transformative (Gold).

Through seven strategic domains—including Culture, Policy, and Data—safeguarding becomes a lived “everyday language” anchored by the principles of Positive Relationships, Everyone MATTERS, and Proactive Provision. This is not just another award; it is a strategic leadership tool that codifies good practice and builds a national community of excellence dedicated to flourishing and safer children.

The Framework has also been carefully designed so it is appropriate and can be successfully applied to all types of educational settings, including schools, nurseries, Alternative Provisions, small schools, Primary, Secondary, Colleges and SEND provision.

The Framework can be applied to a school, embedded into a MAT’s safeguarding assurance processes and integrated into LA’s 174 Audit.
